💎 From The Bronx To Big Boss Energy
Fat Joe’s incredible journey from the streets of the Bronx to global hip-hop royalty is officially headed to TV.
Starz has picked up “The Book of Jose,” a scripted series based on the life of Joseph “Fat Joe” Cartagena.
This has been a long time coming.
The project was first announced in 2022 at Showtime but ended up stalling out.
Now it’s found a perfect new home at Starz—aka the same network where Joe already serves big talk show energy on “Fat Joe Talks.”

Inspired by his memoir of the same name, “The Book of Jose” will follow the rapper’s evolution—from surviving tough times in the Bronx to carving out a decades-long music career that turned him into a certified icon.
📝 The Creative Team Is STACKED
The pilot is in good hands with “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris co-writing alongside Bronx-born writer and actor Dominic Colón (The Corps).
Colón isn’t just a dope writer—he’s also lived some of this story, growing up in the same borough Joe came from.
Director Jessy Terrero (Nicky Jam: El Ganador) is set to helm the pilot, and the executive producer lineup is full of heavy hitters including Cartagena, Barris, Colón, E. Brian Dobbins, and more.
The series is being developed through BET Studios and Barris’ Khalabo Ink Society.
In short… this team is locked, loaded, and ready to deliver.
🔥 Why ‘The Book Of Jose‘ Will Be A Whole Moment
We’ve seen plenty of hip-hop stories hit the screen—but this one hits different.
Fat Joe’s life is raw, real, and deeply inspiring.
He’s one of the few artists who’s remained relevant across three decades, and this series has the potential to show not just how he rose up—but what it took to stay there.
With “The Book of Jose” in the works at Starz, we’re not just getting a show—we’re getting a front-row seat to history.
Frens, are we here for this?
