It’s with a broken heart that I report Arrayah Barrett, the 2-year-old daughter of Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Shaquil Barrett, drowned in their family pool on Sunday.

Authorities arrived at Shaquil’s Tampa Bay residence around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday (April 30) after receiving a call that a child had fallen into a pool.

Arrayah was brought to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead after life-saving measures.

Tampa Bay Police said, “It is not believed to be suspicious in nature at this time, but a purely accidental and tragic incident.”

After the news of Arrayah’s tragic death was made public, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released the following statement:

Today’s tragic news is heartbreaking for all the members of the Buccaneers family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna, and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time.

While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah.

See the Bucc’s original statement below.

Tom Brady also took to social media to send love and prayers to Shaquil Barrett and his family during this unimaginable time.

Arrayah Barrett was the youngest of Shaquil and his wife Jordanna’s four children.

Baby girl had just celebrated her 2nd birthday on April 19.

Shaquil posted a precious photo of her along with the caption, “Happy 2nd bday to my cutie girl. So sweet and cute. You made our family complete. I love you baby girl😘😘 #TGBTG #BIG2

Please join me in sending our sincerest condolences, love, and prayers to the Barrett family during this extremely difficult time.
