Soulja Boy took to the streets of social media to react to Plies‘ copyright infringement lawsuit against him.
I previously reported that Plies is suing Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Cardi B, and Soulja Boy over the unauthorized sampling of his 2008 song, “Me & My Goons.”
Megan’s producer, LilJuMadeDaBeat, claimed on social media that both Megan and Soulja Boy sampled Lil Wil’s Big E-produced track, “My Dougie.”
However, Plies’ attorney, Walter Mosley, stated that although “My Dougie” was released before “Me & My Goons,”musicologists determined it was actually Plies’ song that was sampled in “Pretty Boy Swag” and “Wanna Be.”
Mosley also claimed that Plies and Soulja Boy initially had a good-faith agreement regarding the sample, but that understanding has since expired.
Soulja Boy was fired up when he took to Instagram, accusing Plies of lying and filing the lawsuit out of financial desperation.
“Plies, if you don’t sit your broke ass down somewhere, n***a! ‘Pretty Boy Swag’ is not your beat, n***a! So, you want to wait 10 years to try to sue a n***a for a beat?! That is not your beat, crazy man! WTF is wrong with you, Plies?! You need to change your name to ‘Lies.’ Cause you a MF lie. You know that ain’t your beat, bro! You should have just said, ‘Aye, bruh. I’m broke. Let me hold something.’”
Soulja Boy went on to accuse Plies of being jealous of him, noting that after his performance at the BET Awards, he woke up the next day to a lawsuit.
