In a surprising turn of events, Plies has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Cardi B, and Soulja Boy.

Plies, whose real name is Algernod Lanier Washington, initiated the lawsuit just one day after encouraging Americans to hit the polls on Election Day.

In his complaint, the “Bust It Baby” rapper claims that his 2008 track, “Me & My Goons,” was first infringed upon by Soulja Boy, who allegedly used elements of it in his hit 2010 single, “Pretty Boy Swag.”

More recently, Plies alleges that GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion also used an unauthorized version of his distinctive “infrared countdown” beat on their summer track, “Wanna Be.”

Cardi B is also caught up in the lawsuit due to her feature on the official remix of “Wanna Be.”

The lawsuit further names Megan’s Hot Girl Productions, Soulja Boy’s former label Collipark Productions, and record labels Universal Music Group, Collective Music Group, and Interscope as defendants.

If Plies wins his case, he stands to collect significant damages.
