In her new book “Undefeated: Changing the Rules and Winning On My Own Terms,” Shaunie Henderson shares candid reflections on her past marriage to basketball icon Shaquille O’Neal.
The book delves into her feelings during their time together and sheds light on the complexities of love and relationships.
Shaunie Henderson, who took her current husband’s last name upon marrying him in 2022, candidly reflected on whether she ever truly loved Shaq.
Even though they were married from 2002 to 2011 and had five children together, she admitted that she might have been more attracted to the lifestyle their marriage brought than to Shaq himself.
“I don’t know that I was ever really in love with the man, but I was in love with the idea of being married to the man I had a family with,” Shaunie wrote, looking back on her experience.
She also mentioned that she liked the experiences and opportunities that came with being Shaq’s wife, like traveling with him on NBA road trips.
The book talks about Shaq admitting to being unfaithful during their marriage, and Shaunie acknowledges the struggles he had balancing fame, money, family, and faithfulness.
Even with these challenges, she stood up for him, understanding the complexities of his situation.
After Shaunie shared her thoughts, Shaq responded on social media with a message of understanding and good wishes.
His Instagram Story showed empathy and ended with a loving and supportive message for his ex-wife’s future.
“I understand…I wouldn’t have been in love with me either. Wishing you all the best…❤️ All Love, Shaq”
