Washington Wizards guard Ryan Rollins has been cut from the team after he was accused of stealing from Target several times in 3 months.
According to documents from the Alexandria General District Court, Rollins, 21, was charged with seven counts of petit larceny for items worth less than $1,000.
Ryan Rollins is accused of shoplifting household items like groceries, body wash, and candles twice in September, four times in October, and once in November.
Although the alleged crimes were committed in 2023, the Wizards President Michael Winger said the organization just found out about it.
Winger told the Athletic, “We cannot comment on that matter, or the basis for our roster decisions.”
He added, “We do take our role very seriously as citizens of the DMV, representatives of our fans and a team our community can be proud of. These are expectations, not aspirations.”
Ryan Rollins was selected in the second round of the 2022 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks before he was traded to the Warriors.
He was sent to the Wizards in 2023 as part of the blockbuster trade involving Chris Paul.
Ryan’s attorney, Nathan Muyskens, said that they have no comment at this time.
Ryan Rollins has also turned off the comments on his Instagram account.
