Rome Flynn has officially joined the cast of “Godfather of Harlem,” and let me tell you—he didn’t just step into the role of Frank Lucas, he embodied it.

In our recent interview, Rome opened up about what it means to take on such an iconic character, working alongside legends, and the emotional journey behind portraying one of the most infamous figures in American history.

As an actor, this kind of role is what you dream of.

I’ve done some of the best work of my career on this show.

From the moment Rome appeared on-screen, it was clear this wasn’t just a performance—it was a transformation.

His Southern accent was sharp, deliberate, and era-appropriate, and when I mentioned how convincing it was, he shared the thoughtful research that went into it.

I wasn’t fixated on replicating his exact accent, but I wanted something consistent to that time period.

It’s not just the South—it’s the 60s.

People spoke differently, moved differently.

We’ve seen Frank Lucas on screen before—most notably portrayed by Denzel Washington in American Gangster—but Rome’s version brings something different.

In “Godfather of Harlem,” we’re getting a layered, more introspective look at who Frank was before he became the legend we know.

I think people will be surprised by how much they relate to Frank.

Aside from the nefarious stuff, he’s resilient.

He never gives up. That’s something I think we all connect to.

His portrayal isn’t just captivating—it’s personal, raw, and real.
