Robin Deaton, a 52-year-old woman from Matthews, North Carolina, has been arrested on attempted murder and kidnapping charges after allegedly locking her boyfriend in a storage unit for several days without food or water.

Man Trapped in Storage Unit Without Food or Water

According to the Monroe Police Department, Deaton lured her 51-year-old boyfriend into the unit at Cooper Storage in Monroe last Thursday.

She allegedly convinced him to crawl to the back of the unit, then slammed the door shut, securing it with two locks. Police say she reportedly told him, “This is what you get.”

With no access to food, water, or a power source, the victim remained trapped inside for days.

On Monday, he finally managed to locate his phone and dial 911, desperately pleading for help.

“I’ve been locked in a storage unit for about a week now, and I’ve just now found my phone,” he told dispatchers, according to the Union County Emergency Services report.

His phone was about to die as he struggled to breathe, explaining, “I haven’t had anything to drink or eat.”

Rescue and Arrest of Robin Deaton

Police arrived at the storage facility around 1:15 p.m. on Monday and rescued the man, who was immediately taken to a nearby hospital.

Fortunately, he has since been released.

Initially classified as false imprisonment, further investigation led authorities to pursue attempted murder charges against Robin Deaton.

She was taken into custody early Thursday following a police search.

Authorities continue to investigate, and Deaton remains in custody awaiting court proceedings.
