Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka is facing disciplinary action that is expected to include a significant suspension for violating team guidelines.
The Violation
Sources told ESPN, The Athletic, and Stadium that Udoka had an improper intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff, which is a violation of the franchise’s code of conduct.
While Ime Udoka’s job isn’t believed to be in jeopardy, he could be suspended for the entire 2022-2023 NBA season.
Coach Ime Udoka
In June 2021, Ime was named as head coach of the Boston Celtics.
He released a statement saying:
We have a willing group, and they’ve only reiterated that in our conversations lately…I’m not worried about our group being worried about hard coaching.
They’re asking for that and it’s something I’m going to bring to the table.
Ime Udoka kept his word and saw a remarkable turnaround in Boston and took the team from being under .500 in late January to advance to the NBA Finals for the first time in 12 years.
Ime Udoka & Nia Long
Ime Udoka is engaged to actress Nia Long.
The couple has been together since 2010 and they welcomed their first child together, a baby boy, in 2011.
In May 2015, Ime put a ring on it and he and Nia Long got engaged.
On his first day as head coach of the Boston Celtics, Nia took to social media to congratulate her man, writing:
Today you are officially Head Coach of the Boston @Celtics big love to the entire staff for the warm welcome.
I am beyond proud of this man.
Expect great things because that’s what he does.
Nia has not publicly addressed Ime’s alleged cheating.
