Authorities say Atlanta police responded to a home in the southeast part of the city after receiving reports of gunshots and a woman being dragged back inside the residence.
When officers arrived, a man answered the door and quickly slammed it shut before two individuals fled out the back.
Police say one man re-entered the house while another—later identified as Bailey—jumped two fences in an attempt to escape.
During the chase, Young Scooter suffered a serious leg injury while hopping a fence.
Officers discovered him on the other side, injured but alive.
He was rushed to Grady Marcus Trauma Center, where he later died from his injuries.
According to the Atlanta Medical Examiner’s Office, the official cause of death is still under investigation.

Lt. Andrew Smith of the Atlanta Police Department addressed the public during a press conference Friday night.
He clarified that Young Scooter’s injury did not result from police force, stating:
Just to be very clear, the injury that was sustained was not via the officers on scene.
It was when the male was fleeing.
