R. Kelly: Gang Member Claims Responsibility For Attack, Singer Asks To Be Released From Jail

A Latin Kings gang member is claiming responsibility for the attack on R. Kelly at the Metropolitan Correctional Center on August 26.

Jeremiah Shane Farmer, who is facing a mandatory life sentence for racketeering conspiracy involving a 1999 double murder, outed himself as the attacker in a court filing.

Farmer claims he attacked R. Kelly to expose government corruption ? and he was mad about being on lockdown because of the fan protests outside of the jail.

According to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons report attached to his filing, Farmer was able to slip away from an employee at the Metropolitan Correctional Center on Aug. 26, enter Kelly’s cell and beat him repeatedly in the head while Kelly was in the lower bunk. The attack stopped only after a jail security officer pepper-sprayed Farmer, the report states.

Attorneys for the disgraced R&B singer also filed a new motion on Friday asking U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber for an evidentiary hearing so that they and the judge could ask Farmer details about the beating.

“It appears that MCC personnel simply followed Mr. Farmer, allowed him to carry out the attack, and then only intervened after Mr. Kelly had already sustained serious injuries,” Kelly’s attorney Michael Leonard wrote.

Past attempts to get the singer released have been unsuccessful. I doubt this will be enough to set him free.

You may remember Kell’s legal team filed court docs asking a judge to release the singer after several inmates tested positive for COVID-19.

R. Kelly, 53, faces two federal indictments in two states on charges related to sexual abuse. He has been held without bond since his arrest in July 2019.
