📺 CBS Cancels ‘The Equalizer’ After Five Seasons

Welp, it’s official—”The Equalizer” is coming to an end at CBS.

The network just announced the series has been canceled after five seasons, and the May 4 episode will now double as the series finale.

That’s right… no big farewell rollout, just a quiet exit stage left.

The decision comes as the show’s ratings slipped this season.

After CBS bumped it to a later time slot on Sunday nights, viewership dropped to just under 6 million with delayed viewing factored in.

That’s a solid number by today’s standards, but still a noticeable drop from last season’s 7.89 million.

🎬 Queen Latifah As Robyn McCall Was That Girl

Since it premiered in 2021, “The Equalizer” has given us Queen Latifah like we’ve never seen her before—kicking butt, taking names, and handing out justice on her terms as Robyn McCall, a former CIA badass turned everyday problem solver.

Inspired by the OG ’80s series and Denzel Washington’s film trilogy, the CBS reboot carved its own lane.

With a dope ensemble including Tory Kittles, Liza Lapira, Adam Goldberg, Lorraine Toussaint, and Laya DeLeon Hayes, the show mixed action, heart, and social justice in a way that made it more than your average crime drama.

Latifah—aka Dana Owens—also wore the executive producer hat, helping shape the show into a bold, Black-led series that gave network TV a fresh voice.

🛑 No Spinoff, No Comeback—It’s A Done Deal

CBS had played around with the idea of a spinoff starring Titus Welliver and Juani Feliz, who even popped up in an April episode to test the waters.

But the network passed on moving forward, which means “The Equalizer” universe is shutting down entirely.

With this cancellation, CBS has officially cleared its 2024-25 slate.

The Equalizer” now joins “FBI: Most Wanted,” “FBI: International,” “Poppa’s House,” and “Blue Bloods” on the chopping block.

The network’s new schedule drops May 7.

It’s always tough saying goodbye to a show that meant something, especially one led by a powerhouse like Queen Latifah.

But hey, Robyn McCall’s legacy? Still undefeated.

Are you sad to see The Equalizer go? Sound off in the comments.
