Playboi Carti was arrested in Georgia for allegedly choking his pregnant girlfriend following an argument over a paternity test.
The incident occurred on December 20, 2022.
According to an affidavit, the alleged victim told police the rapper, whose real name is Jordan Carter, grabbed her by her throat and pushed her.
She said Carti was holding her neck until she could barely breathe to the point where she thought she was going to die.
The woman said the argument began when she went to Carti’s home to talk about the baby and it led to a conversation about a paternity test, which quickly escalated to a physical attack.
A female witness reportedly intervened to break up the fight while two other men stood by idly and the woman was able to escape and run to her car, where Playboy Carti caught her and allegedly attacked her again.
She claims the rapper tried to pull her out of the car and put his hand over her mouth as she was calling the police for help.
When police arrived, the victim had visible injuries on her neck, chest, and back.
The alleged victim, who was 14 weeks pregnant at the time, told police that she has been in a relationship with Playboi Carti for two years and she has lived with him since July 2022.
Brian Steel, an attorney for the rapper, told TMZ, “Mr. Carter was falsely accused. Pursuant to my communications with the Fulton County District Attorney‘s office, this case will be dismissed without any prosecution or litigation.”
Iggy Azalea, who shares a 3-year-old son with Playboi Carti took to Twitter to react to the news of her baby’s father’s arrest for felony assault.
The “Fancy” rapper alluded that she too has experienced abuse at the hands of Carti.
She tweeted:
