The “Power” universe is expanding at Starz with “Origins,” a prequel series focused on the origin story of Ghost and Tommy.
We were introduced to the characters in the original “Power” series, which premiered on Starz in 2014.
Omari Hardwick starred as “James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick,” owner of New York’s hottest up-and-coming nightclub, Truth, and the kingpin of the most lucrative drug network, serving only the wealthy and powerful.
Joseph Sikora starred as “Tommy Egan,” Ghost’s childhood friend, drug partner, and brother-in-arms.
“Power” offered six seasons of great television and spawned multiple spinoffs:
“Power Book II: Ghost” follows Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) as he navigates university life while managing his drug business, relationships, and family.
“Power Book III: Raising Kanan” is a prequel centered on 50 Cent’s character, Kanan Stark, exploring his upbringing and relationships.
“Raising Kanan” could potentially usher in “Origins” as fans of the show have been anxiously awaiting the moment in Kanan’s story when he meets Ghost and Tommy.
“Power Book IV: Force” focuses on Tommy Egan’s journey after leaving New York, closing old wounds while moving forward from his past.
Kathryn Busby, President of Programming for Starz said in a statement:
As we approach the 10-year anniversary of Power it is incredible to witness the enormous connection our fans have with the ‘Power’ universe.
We can’t wait to see how ‘Origins’ will further evolve this dynamic franchise while bringing fresh, gripping, and expansive storytelling to our audience.
50 Cent, executive producer of the “Power” universe, took to social media writing, “You asked, I answered. Young Ghost and Tommy coming your way. Power Origins now in development.”
