DJ Self and Cardi B appeared on “Love & Hip Hop (New York)” Season 6 together after he encouraged her to join the show.
At the time, she was just a regular, degular, smegular girl from the Bronx who was transitioning from working in the strip club to chasing her musical aspirations.

While DJ Self doesn’t take credit for discovering Cardi, he does feel like he had a hand in her success.
With that being said, it didn’t come as a surprise when he said he liked Cardi B’s album over Nicki Minaj because he has an alliance and friendship with the Grammy Award-winning “WAP” rapper.
However, Pink Friday 2 is out now.
Cardi B is slated to drop new music in 2024.
