Johnny Cage Enters The Fight
This time around, the fan favorite champions are joined by Johnny Cage himself, played by Karl Urban.
And from what we’re seeing in the trailer, he is not just comic relief.
He is stepping into the arena ready to throw hands.
The story centers on an ultimate, no-holds barred battle as our champions are pitted against one another in a brutal fight to stop the dark rule of Shao Kahn, who is threatening the very existence of Earthrealm.
Translation? Nobody is safe.
The energy feels bigger. The fights look meaner. And the stakes feel personal.
Returning Fighters And Familiar Faces
The cast is stacked. Alongside Karl Urban, the film features Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion.
Director Simon McQuoid returns to helm the sequel, with a screenplay by Jeremy Slater, based on the iconic video game created by Ed Boon and John Tobias.
You can feel the confidence in this trailer.
It knows the fans want iconic matchups, jaw-dropping fatalities, and that signature Mortal Kombat intensity.
And it looks like it’s delivering all of that and then some.

Mortal Kombat II hits theaters and IMAX across North America on May 8, 2026, with international release beginning May 6, 2026.
