Frens… I’m a firm believer that you don’t touch the classics, so I was definitely skeptical when I heard Netflix was doing a “Man On Fire” series.
Because when you touch a classic, there are only two things that can happen: You either knock it out of the park… or you completely fumble the bag.
After binging all 7 episodes, now streaming on Netflix, I can say this with my entire chest… they did not fumble.
I absolutely loved it!

What To Know About “Man On Fire”
- Now Streaming On: Netflix
- Episodes: 7 (full season available)
- Starring: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Billie Boullet, Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy, Paul Ben-Victor
- Based On: The novels by A.J. Quinnell
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Makes The Role His Own
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was absolutely incredible!
To say he nailed it would be an understatement.
His performance was so strong that my brain effortlessly recalibrated and accepted him as John Creasy in this new timeline, which is no small feat.
And let me tell you… there were moments where I found myself involuntarily yelling “Yasss!” and clapping like I was at the Golden Globes.
That’s how locked in I was.
What I appreciated most is how the series honors the original while giving us a deeper look at Creasy.
This version doesn’t just rely on action. It leans into the emotional weight of his journey in a way that really lands.
The pacing across the seven episodes kept me engaged, and the added layers made his story feel more grounded and personal.
You don’t just watch what he’s going through… you feel it.
Supporting Cast Holds It Down

The supporting cast, including Billie Boullet, Bobby Cannavale, Alice Braga, and Scoot McNairy, adds real depth to the story.
And I have to say… Poe and Creasy’s relationship carries the same emotional weight that Lupita and Creasy had in the original film.
That connection is very important.
It’s heartfelt, meaningful, and gives the story the emotional anchor that made the original so memorable.
Is “Man On Fire” Worth Watching?
If you enjoy character-driven action with emotional weight, this is absolutely worth your time.
Whether you’re a fan of the original or coming in fresh, it’s an easy binge.
My Final Take
I’m giving it a 8.5 out of 10.
This isn’t just action. It’s about pain, redemption, and survival, and it delivers.
Hopefully, the series gets greenlit for another season because I most definitely will be sat.
