Lizzo made one of Aurielle Marie’s dreams come true by sending her a dress that she asked if she could borrow for a special red carpet event.
In Aurielle’s TikTok video, she ran down her resume as a writer and author of her first book Gumbo Ya Ya, which is about growing up “fat, black, and queer in the south.”
She said her book has done really well, it’s won a couple of awards, and it has helped her become the Georgia Author of the Year.
Aurielle said that she experienced one of the biggest accolades of her career when Out magazine called her and told her she was selected as one of Out’s top 100.
She said she’s excited about going to New York in a month to receive an award from Out magazine, but she can’t find anything to wear that compliments her size and is red-carpet ready.
So she asked Lizzo if she could borrow her dress from the 2022 Emmys.
See Aurielle’s pitch below:
It wasn’t the 2022 Emmy dress that Aurielle requested, but her reaction to the 2019 American Music Awards dress that Lizzo sent her was everything:
Aurielle recently expressed her appreciation for Lizzo on “Good Moring America.”
When someone is in a body that’s larger, right?…
Than how we think they should look we value them less and that’s true from fashion and pop culture…
I keep telling myself, ‘Aurielle, don’t be silly it’s just a dress.’
I’m really grateful because I think that everyone deserves to feel this beautiful.

Shouts out to Lizzo for the very kind gesture, and congratulations to Aurielle Marie.
