Los Angeles Chargers defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day took to social media on Friday claiming he had been sexually assaulted by TSA personnel.
According to the NFL baller’s tweets, the incident took place at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California.
Sebastian wrote:
I really just got sexually assaulted by TSA at @JohnWayneAir. After I asked the gentleman to please stop BC I’m uncomfortable and I feel that this part of the check is unnecessary (After he felt what was needed). Then they told me I was the problem after 3 TSA agents swarmed me.
I’m all for people doing their job well. But it was extremely unnecessary and dehumanizing. I travel a lot, for personal and work reasons. I’ve never experienced anything like that @JohnWayneAir.
Sebastian Joseph-Day went on to share that he tried to file a complaint to no avail.
And when I do try to file a complaint they are making me jump through hoops to do so. @JohnWayneAir
Sebastian made it very that he wasn’t seeking sympathy. He was speaking out to prevent something like this from happening to someone else.
I’m not sharing this on Twitter for sympathy. I’m sharing this so this group of gentlemen and staff aren’t allowed to do this ever again to another human being. @JohnWayneAir @City_of_Irvine @OCSheriff @OCGovCA
See Sebastian’s original tweets below.
TSA released a statement to Fox News on Sunday acknowledging that they are aware of the situation and is investigating the claims.
We are looking into the matter to determine if our procedures were followed and whether any corrective action needs to be taken.
TSA remains committed to treating every traveler with dignity and respect while carrying out its security screening responsibilities.
Sebastian Joseph-Day wasn’t seeing sympathy after what happened to him, but he did receive empathy and support.
One person commented:
Thank you for speaking up and sharing this. No one should be dehumanized and assaulted.
And it is particularly scary when committed by people in a position of power over others. Sending all my best.
Another person tweeted:
I’m so sorry this happened to you.
We’ve all been through TSA and can tell the difference between someone being professional about it, much like a medical exam, and someone sexually assaulting you.
I’ve posted about being sexually assaulted by a TSA agent at Asheville airport….
Hopefully, a full investigation is done and those who violated Sebastian Joseph-Day are held accountable.
