Gayle King and Charles Barkley are joining forces for the new weekly CNN show, “King Charles.”
Rumors about the show have been swirling, but CEO Chris Licht confirmed the one-hour program is a go and will premiere this fall in a staff memo.
This show will be an exciting new way we are delivering culturally relevant programming and unique perspectives to our audience, from two incredibly dynamic personalities.
We are excited that they are both able to join us in addition to their current respective roles, with Gayle continuing to anchor CBS Mornings.
‘King Charles‘ exemplifies the one-team, one-company mentality, with Charles playing double duty at CNN and in his role at WBD Sports.
Gayle King, 68, who noted she wasn’t looking for another job, told Variety the show offers “a good conversation without tearing other people down.”
She also confirmed the show via Instagram writing:
YEP it’s true!..Charles Barkley and I are doing a tv show for @CNN called #KingCharles..I’m King, he’s Charles..get it?!
I wasn’t looking for another thing to add to my schedule…and neither was Charles but we’re excited about going on this adventure together..
So here we are, announcing it on @nbaontnt..
See you Wednesdays this Fall.
PS. not leaving @cbsmornings, still my favorite network show!

Charles Barkley, 60, wants to avoid any labels when it comes to “King Charles.”
“We don’t want to say, ‘We’re a liberal, conservative, Republican, Democrat’ — that’s one of the things that’s already ruined television in general,” he said.
