I woke up to headlines about Kenya Moore allegedly being behind on rent, and I knew this one needed context.
Because when money, lawsuits, and reality TV collide, the truth can get lost in the noise real quick.
Now, Kenya is speaking out and she is not mincing words.
Kenya Moore Calls The Rent Reports “False”
The former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star hopped on Instagram to shut down claims that she is behind on rent and utilities at her Atlanta salon, Kenya Moore Hair Spa.
According to Kenya, the reports are flat out false.
She says her company is in an active lawsuit against the landlord for failing to pay nearly $80,000 in tenant improvement allowances that were allegedly owed to her.
Kenya claims she invested over $300,000 of her own money to build the salon from a “white box” commercial space.
When she says the landlord failed to reimburse those contractual expenses, she withheld rent in an effort to reach a fair settlement and filed a countersuit.
That is a very different picture than “she just didn’t pay.”
What The Court Documents Say
Here is where it gets complicated.
According to reports, a Georgia judge ordered Kenya’s company, Moore Vision Media, to pay $87,976 in two installments for unpaid rent and utilities.
The court also ordered monthly payments of about $5,500 until the space is vacated or the matter is resolved.
The landlord, Northland Chamblee LLC, later claimed the first payment was not made by the deadline and requested possession of the property.
The court has not yet ruled on that request.
So legally, this is still unfolding.
The Bigger Picture
Kenya opened her salon in Atlanta in 2024, and from day one she positioned it as more than a business.
It was personal. It was legacy. It was ownership.
Situations like this remind us that business disputes are rarely black and white.
There are contracts, reimbursements, improvement allowances, and legal strategies that most headlines simply do not explain.
Kenya also invited fans to join her live on YouTube this Sunday at 5 PM Eastern to answer questions and give updates on her projects, relationship status, and even her recent encounter with Britt Eady.
She promised it will be juicy.
And if you know Kenya, she is going to come with receipts.
What are your thoughts on this situation?
Do you think this is a simple rent issue or a deeper contractual battle?
Drop down in the comments and let’s talk.
