Kenashia Douglas (Shia), her Grammy Award-winning sister Ashanti, and their mother, Tina Douglas, opened up about the horrific domestic abuse she suffered on “Red Table Talk.”
Shia first shared her story of abuse on her 31st birthday, when she took to social media to share a video that revealed she had suffered a miscarriage and had been brutally beaten to the point of having her teeth knocked out.
Ashanti responded to the video writing, “The next Chapter. My sister is a F**KIN BEAST! One of the most resilient women I’ve been blessed enough to know. I’m honored to be your older sister..the blood in these veins will NEVER BETRAY. I love you. I’m with you. Always. Happy 31st Birthday.”
Over the years, Kenashia Douglas has never called out her abuser by name, but she publicly dated entrepreneur Slowbucks for 13 years and announced their engagement in 2016.
In their first interview together on “Red Table Talk,” this tight-knit family shares what they call the “darkest time of their lives.”
Shia is bravely revealing what led to chilling photos of bruises, black eyes, and broken teeth.
Ashanti speaks out about feeling helpless, wanting to take matters into her own hands, and the important steps their family took to heal.
