Howard University has released a statement in regards to the backlash Phylicia Rashad received after she publicly celebrated Bill Cosby’s overturned conviction.

Phylicia took to social media writing, “FINALLY!!!! A terrible wrong is being righted – a miscarriage of justice is corrected!”

After she was dragged through the streets of social media and labeled a “rape enabler,” Phylicia took to her Instagram Story to issue this statement:

I fully support survivors of sexual assault coming forward. My post was in no way intended to be insensitive to their truth. Personally, I know friends and family that such abuse has lifelong residual effects. My heartfelt wish is for healing.
