Actress Gail Bean took to social media and shared a beautiful and uplifting open letter to Malcolm M. Mays.
It’s no secret that the “Snowfall” star and the “Raising Kanan” star has a friendship that is strong as vibranium – so much so that they have sparked dating rumors more than once.
But, Gail Bean’s letter to Malcom M. Mays comes days after he was wrongfully booted out of the “Power Book II: Ghost” premiere in New York City because security didn’t recognize who he was.
In her letter, Gail reminded Malcolm M. Mays that he is a “phenomenal Black man” and she also apologized on behalf of those “too coward to publicly stand by you or admit their wrongdoings.”
Gail Bean also implored the public during Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month to do better as a society.

Dear Malcolm Mays The Great,
You, sir, are such a phenomenal BLACK MAN! I’m honored to witness your brilliance x your protection, not just for those you love but for those who can’t defend themselves.
This year has been a culmination of your hard work, your genius x God. BLACK BOY JOY should be protected, respected x encouraged!
In every room with or without you, know I intend to do just that. Malcolm, for all the times you felt unsupported, I apologize on behalf of those too coward to publicly stand by you or admit to their wrongdoings.
Society claps briefly when back men win, they crucify to no end when black mens flaws get the better of them, yet their is silence the loudest when black men are thriving x shining but to no fault of their own get accused/mistaken for wrongdoing.
Instead of an explanation x apology, black men are isolated x exiled when they should be comforted x loved on.
June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month.
I challenge us as a society to do better.
Because the mere act of pretending men are in the wrong during the times that they are not x the accusatory culture that has gone on for far too long x too loud, is a recipe for delusion.
S/O to the men that remain strong despite the attacks.
Continue to beat the odds. S/O to the men that persevere through the disgusting x unfair labels placed on them, which they have not earned.
May God x the Ancestors shield you from the lies, the judgment x the weapons formed against you.
God is within you black man, you will not fail! I love you with every breath in my body.
Love x Light,
Gail Bean
