Former Mavericks Star Shawn Bradley Paralyzed Following Bicycle Accident

17

I am sad to report Shawn Bradley, the 7’6” former NBA baller for the Dallas Mavericks, was paralyzed in a bicycle accident in January.

On January 20, Shawn was struck from behind by an automobile while riding his bicycle just one block away from his home in St. George, Utah.

The accident caused a traumatic spinal cord injury that left Shawn paralyzed.

Shawn Bradley underwent neck fusion surgery and has spent the last eight weeks in hospitalized and undergoing rehab.

Shawn’s wife, Carrie, has been by his side around the clock and he has a great support system in his family, doctors, and rehabilitation specialists.

Shawn has been relying on his faith in God as he deals with the challenges of paraplegia.

He plans to use his accident as a platform to stress the importance of bicycle safety.
