Fetty Wap has been released from federal prison and placed on home confinement, and the reaction from Masika Kalysha was immediate, emotional, and anything but supportive.
The rapper, born Willie Junior Maxwell II, was released Thursday from a Minnesota facility where he had been serving a six-year sentence stemming from his 2022 guilty plea on drug conspiracy charges.
According to TMZ, Fetty will now complete the remainder of his sentence in home confinement in Philadelphia.
The Bureau of Prisons reports his sentence is scheduled to end on November 8.
Fetty Wap Released From Prison And Placed On Home Confinement
In a statement shared with Billboard, Fetty Wap expressed a desire to move forward with intention and purpose, emphasizing community-focused efforts as his priority.
Right now, my focus is on giving back through my community initiatives and foundation, supporting at-risk young children by expanding access to education, early tech skills, and vision care for young kids and students so they can show up as their best selves.
I’m committed to moving forward with purpose and making a meaningful impact where it matters most.
While he is no longer incarcerated, this next phase comes with strict conditions.
Per TMZ, Fetty will be subject to regular drug testing and must receive federal approval to open bank accounts for the next five years.
He is also required to report his earnings and tax records to the U.S. Probation Department.
Alcohol use and non-prescribed drugs are prohibited, and he may be required to participate in an outpatient drug treatment program.
Representatives for Fetty Wap and the Department of Justice did not immediately respond to comment requests from Rolling Stone.

A Look Back At Fetty Wap’s Legal Case
Fetty pleaded guilty in 2022 to one count of conspiracy to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. He was sentenced in May 2023 after his arrest by FBI agents at Rolling Loud New York in 2021.
Prosecutors alleged that Fetty was part of a larger operation responsible for distributing more than 100 kilograms of illegal substances, including heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine, from New Jersey to Long Island.
He was later arrested again in 2022 for allegedly threatening to kill someone he referred to as “a rat” during a FaceTime call.
Federal prosecutors initially sought a seven- to nine-year sentence, while his defense team requested five years.
In a sentencing memorandum, his attorney wrote that Fetty’s family had seen significant growth during his incarceration and believed he would make better choices upon release.
Masika Kalysha Reacts To Fetty Wap’s Release, Says “Go Back”
Not everyone is buying the redemption arc.
Shortly after Fetty’s release, Masika Kalysha took to social media to voice her frustration and disappointment.
Masika shares a 9-year-old daughter, Khari Barbie Maxwell, with the rapper.
I hate believing in a ni**a that I know I shouldn’t believe in and he prove me tf right.
Prove me WRONG for once! Damn!
How you get out and be an immediate disappointment?
1st day out and still a b**ch a** ni**a. Go back.
She followed up with another message, making it clear her focus is on protecting her children.
I don’t play about my babies and idgaf who don’t like it.
My kids have been through enough!
Let my babies down and you gonna see a different side of me.
The frustration was loud, public, and deeply personal.
What’s Next For Fetty Wap After Prison
First things first, we all know jailhouse promises do not always translate smoothly into real-life change.
Secondly, respectfully, someone needs to take Masika out of the group chat for her own peace.
Most importantly, I genuinely hope Fetty Wap understands the gravity of this moment.
Home confinement is still freedom adjacent, and it is an opportunity many people never receive.
Whether he uses it to rebuild, take accountability, and show up better, especially as a father, remains to be seen.
This chapter does not have to end the way the last one did. The choice is his.
