Eminem has pulled another lyrical rabbit out of his hat with his new single “Houdini,” and the track offers wordplay, nostalgia…and controversy.

In “Houdini,” Eminem drops these lines that have everyone talking:

If I was to ask for Megan Thee (What?)
Stallion if she would collab with me
Would I really have a shot at a feat? (Haha)
I don't know, but I'm glad to be back like

Yep, he went there. In typical Shady fashion, Eminem plays with the double entendre of “a shot at a feat,” referencing Megan Thee Stallion’s infamous 2020 shooting incident involving Tory Lanez.

One Twitter user wrote:

Eminem has used women’s pain and trauma to further his career, his entire career.

His career is nothing if he doesn’t involve a woman in unnecessary drama for outrage attention.

But, we’ll get into Twitter later…

“Houdini” isn’t just a random drop; it’s the lead single from Eminem’s twelfth studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).

Named after the legendary magician Harry Houdini, who was known for his jaw-dropping stunts like the Chinese Water Torture Cell, the song mirrors some of Eminem’s earlier vibes.

Remember the intro to his 1999 track “Role Model”? Yeah, he’s been channeling Houdini for a while.

With long-time collaborator Jeff Bass of the Bass Brothers back on board, “Houdini” feels like a time machine to the early 2000s.

The track brings back those morbidly catchy beats and Shady’s infamous “Guess who’s back?” line from “Without Me.”

New dish. Same ole recipe.

The hype train left the station on May 20, 2024, when Eminem teased his fans with a cryptic social media post featuring a text message from “All Contacts” that read, “…and for my last trick!”

The message included a date—May 31—fueling speculation about a new release.

The plot thickened on May 28, when Eminem posted a video on Instagram of him FaceTiming magician David Blaine.

At the end of the call, Eminem announced the release of “Houdini” on May 31, wrapping up with a hint: “for my last trick, I’m gonna make my career disappear.”

The official music video for Eminem’s “Houdini” has garnered over 4 MILLION views in less than 11 hours!

The cinematic Rich Lee-directed visual brings Eminem and Slim Shady together for their usual antics.
