May this kind of friend never find me. Darrin Henson is getting roasted in the streets of Instagram after a post expressing concern over Britney Spears’ well-being didn’t land the way he may have expected.
And honestly, it’s not hard to see why.
Many felt the post came across as opportunistic, especially since it doubled as promotion for his 2023 Tubi documentary, “Darrin’s Dance Grooves: The Untold Darrin Henson Story.”
The one-hour, 15-minute documentary explores his rise from humble beginnings to becoming a mega-superstar choreographer and earning his title as “the choreographer to the stars.”
One of those stars was Britney Spears.

Damn this can’t be my friend!!
NOPE This bothers me so much, there used to be so much happiness in her. When you watch the documentary you’ll see the fun we were having and just delight in her presence. #britneyspears Watch my documentary The Untold Darrin Henson Story on @tubi #theuntolddarrinhensonstory

To add insult to injury Darrin tagged BET, TMZ, Netflix, and a blog.
That’s where things took a turn.
Instead of receiving support, he was met with heavy backlash.
The Backlash Was Immediate
One commenter wrote:
Wow I’m really surprised that you would post something like this. Would a friend really do this to another friend? Honestly, it’s a bad look for you.
Another added:
What a heartless post. May God have mercy on your wicked heart.
And someone else didn’t hold back either:
It’s fascinating how proximity to greatness becomes a lifelong marketing strategy. This is not cute or clever.
Whew.
The common thread in the criticism?
People felt that if the concern was genuine, the documentary plug didn’t need to be part of the conversation.
Was It Concern or Marketing?
Now here’s the real question.
Was Darrin Henson sincerely worried about Britney Spears and just chose the wrong way to express it?
Or was this a calculated marketing move tied to his documentary?
Intent can be tricky to measure, but perception is everything on social media.
Frens, what do you think?
