Bliss Nightclub in Washington D.C. has issued an apology following outrage over a farewell event at their venue for slain rapper Goonew.
Photos and videos appear to show the Goonew’s deceased body standing upright in the club during an event on Sunday night (April 3) titled, “The Last Show.”
The rapper was wearing sneakers, jeans, an Amiri hood, and a crown.
It was like a scene out of the HBO Max series, “South Side.”

The farewell event has caused quite a bit of outrage on social media.

The outrage prompted Bliss Nightclub to release the following apology and statement denying any knowledge of the plans for the event.
Our deepest condolences to Goonew’s family, friends, and fans.
Bliss was contacted by a local funeral home to rent out our venue for Goonew’s home-going celebration.
Bliss was never made aware of what would transpire.
We sincerely apologize to all those who may be upset or offended.
Please keep Goonew’s family and friends in your prayers at this difficult time.

Goonew, whose real name is Markelle Antonio Marrow, was shot and killed in District Heights, Maryland on Friday, March 18.
