Peacock’s breakout hit, “Bel-Air”, will be wrapping up with its upcoming fourth season, marking the end of the modern-day reimagining of the beloved ‘90s sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”.
After three successful seasons, the show has been renewed for one final eight-episode season, which is shorter than the previous seasons, each with ten episodes.
This announcement follows the Season 3 finale, which aired on September 5.
While there were budget discussions behind the scenes, those conversations didn’t stop the show from being renewed for one last season.
“Bel-Air” made a huge impact on Peacock after it was picked up in 2020, landing a two-season deal based on Morgan Cooper’s viral four-minute spec trailer.
This was a major win for the fledgling NBCUniversal streamer, giving it its first original hit and a strong foundation in the world of streaming TV.
Jabari Banks, who stars as the updated version of Will Smith’s iconic character from the original series, leads a talented cast that also includes Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones, and Simone Joy Jones.
After some showrunner changes, Carla Banks Waddles, a writer from the start, has taken the reins as showrunner since Season 2, continuing to bring the drama to life alongside the executive producing team, which includes Cooper, Will Smith, and others.
Throughout its run, “Bel-Air” has featured an impressive array of guest stars, including original “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” cast members Tatyana Ali, Joseph Marcell, Vernee Watson-Johnson, and Daphne Maxwell Reid, along with stars like Bianca Belair, Bill Bellamy, Saweetie, Vic Mensa, and Marlon Wayans.
Will Smith took to Instagram to congratulate the cast and crew on the show’s success, saying, “ONE MO’ SEASON!! We’re bringing @belairpeacock back for a 4th and final season. Congrats y’all!”
