McDonald’s Travis Scott Meal is responsible for boosting sales 4.6% in the third quarter of 2020 (July – September), according to a Wall Street Journal report released on Thursday (October 8).

In the second quarter of 2020, McDonald’s saw a 9% decrease in sales.

The Travis Scott Meal was only available from September 8 through October 4, a little over a month in the third quarter, but McDonald’s still credits the meal with the rise in sales.

McDonald’s reported that the demand for the $6 meal was extremely high, to the point where stores reported running out of ingredients.

“We’ve created a program that’s so compelling to our customers that it’s stretching our world-class supply chain; and if demand continues at these levels, more restaurants will break supply,” Stated a McDonald’s memo released in mid-September to it’s employees and franchises. “In fact, it’s been so lit, some of our restaurants have temporarily sold out of some of the ingredients in the meal. We’re working closely with our suppliers, distributors and franchisees to resupply impacted restaurants as quickly as possible.”

Travis Scott was the first entertainer since Michael Jordan in 1992 (McJordan meal) to have his own McDonald’s meal.

McDonald’s has partnered with Latin artist J Balvin for the month of October.

Many health-conscious enthusiasts were not feeling the Travis Scott Meal at all. Rapper NLE Choppa encouraged people to choose a healthier choice at the Farmers Market instead of buying the Travis Scott Meal.

After receiving some criticism, NLE Choppa explained that he was just trying to give people a healthier option.

Stop eating McDonald’s, period. You can go on YouTube, look up what you’re eating, real talk. They done found human meat in these foods… meat grinder, bro. I’m just saying fool, I care about y’all. I ain’t even mad, I ain’t pressed. I’ve never been no hater bro, I don’t hate on no man.

I knew when I first heard of the Travis Scott McDonald’s collaboration that it would do well because he’s like the millennial Tupac.
