Tommy Davidson recalled the time Will Smith checked him for kissing Jada Pinkett Smith during his recent interview on Shannon Sharpe‘s “Club Shay Shay.”
The Back Story
The actor and comedian co-starred alongside Jada in the 1998 movie, Woo.
In his memoir, “Living In Color,” Tommy detailed how he was unsatisfied with the script’s original ending.
So, he talked to Jada Pinkett Smith and the production about tying up the story with a shot of them dancing during the credits.
While filming the scene, Tommy Davidson said he unexpectedly kissed Jada causing her to flinch.
“I didn’t know this: You have to rehearse a kiss,” he writes. “You can’t just spring it on your costar … And I didn’t think it was all that big of a deal.”
Well, Will Smith thought otherwise and followed Tommy back to his trailer to have a word with him.

During his appearance on “Club Shay Shay,” Tommy Davidson recalled what happened once Will Smith entered his trailer.
He came in and I was sitting down. He’s standing over me like this…and he’s like, ‘I don’t appreciate that, man.
I don’t appreciate THAT!’
Tommy admitted that he played it off like he didn’t know what Will was talking about.
“So, I’m like, ‘What’s going on man?’”
Tommy said Jada Pinkett Smith tried to intervene and was calling her husband off of her co-star, but Will was hot as fish grease!
The comedian said he eventually made it to his feet and invited Will to step outside to discuss the issue.

Here’s why I can’t take Tommy’s story at face value… in his memoir, he states Will was upset because he kissed Jada on set without her consent.
But, while talking to Shannon, Tommy Davidson said he didn’t know why Will Smith was mad until 15 years later.
