Apple Original Films has just released the trailer for its upcoming action-packed heist comedy, The Instigators, set to debut in select theaters on August 2, 2024, before its global premiere on Apple TV+ on August 9, 2024.
This highly anticipated film brings together a powerhouse team of talent both in front of and behind the camera, promising audiences a thrilling and riotous cinematic experience.
Directed by Doug Liman and written by Chuck MacLean and Casey Affleck, The Instigators is an Apple Original Film from Artists Equity, Studio 8, and The Walsh Company.
The film is produced by Hollywood heavyweights Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Kevin J. Walsh, and Alison Winter, with executive producers Celia Costas, Dani Bernfeld, Kevin Halloran, Michael Joe, Cynthia Dahlgren, and Luciana Damon.
The plot centers around Rory (Matt Damon) and Cobby (Casey Affleck), two reluctant partners drawn together by desperate circumstances.
Rory, a desperate father, teams up with Cobby, an ex-con, to rob a corrupt politician of his ill-gotten earnings.
However, the heist quickly spirals out of control, plunging them into a chaotic whirlwind.
They find themselves pursued not only by the police but also by backward bureaucrats and vengeful crime bosses.
Out of their depth and running out of options, Rory and Cobby enlist the help of Rory’s therapist, played by Hong Chau.
Together, the unlikely trio embarks on a wild, city-wide getaway, forced to put aside their differences and work together to evade capture—or worse.
The film’s ensemble cast also includes Michael Stuhlbarg, Paul Walter Hauser, Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, Toby Jones, Jack Harlow, and Ron Perlman.
Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, who are also producers on the film, expressed their excitement about the project.
