Tami Roman Reveals She Suffers From Body Dysmorphic Disorder

Tami Roman suffers from body dysmorphic disorder

The reality TV star-turned-actress was truly an open book during her sit down on “The Real.”

In addition to opening up about giving her husband, Reggie Youngblood, the opportunity to have a baby with another woman, Tami spoke openly for the first time about her disorder.

She told Loni Love and Adrienne Houghton:

It’s something that I don’t talk about often, so this is like the first time because I feel comfortable enough to talk to you ladies about it.

Tami Roman went to share how she’s been suffering from body dysmorphia since she was 13-years-old and it was triggered by an audition at a modeling agency.

I went to this agency and walked in and that lady ripped me to shreds.

I thought I was perfect. I was 5’9”, less than a 120 pounds, assuredly they are going to sign me.

And she literally stood me in front of a mirror and said, ‘You’ve got back-folds, you’ve got fat over your knees, you need to do something with your chin, your breasts are sagging…

And I went home that night and from that moment every time I looked at myself in the mirror, I could find something wrong with myself.

Tami Roman revealed she had her mouth wired in 1993 to lose more weight when she was already skinny.

Today, Tami is living with Type 2 diabetes, which also causes her weight to fluctuate.

Navigating that along with her disorder can be very challenging for her.

Tami shared that when people leave comments on social media calling her “frail” or “too skinny,” she takes it as a compliment because of her disorder.

Watch the video below.

This is heartbreaking because you never know what someone is going through.

I too, am guilty of sincerely worrying about Tami’s health when I saw her looking unusually thin.

I am sending love and prayers to Tami Roman and all who may be suffering with mental disorders.

I really hope she reconsiders getting back under the care of a therapist.
