SZA recently opened up in an interview about regretting her decision to get a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), saying she should have focused on her mental health instead.
The Grammy-winning R&B artist confirmed she had the procedure last May, after hinting about it in her chart-topping album SOS.
In her talk with Elle, SZA (whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe) explained why she went for the surgery.
“I treat my butt like a purse,” she said. “It’s just there to enhance whatever else. And that’s why I paid for it, because it works all by itself.”
She also admitted, “I always wanted a really fat a** with less gym time.”
SZA clarified that no one pressured her to change her body; it was her own choice. “I didn’t give in to industry pressure. I gave in to my own eyes in the mirror, thinking, ‘No, I need more a**.’”
Looking back, she says the surgery wasn’t worth it. “I’m so mad I did that sh*t.”
She shared that in early 2022, she’d been hitting the gym hard, quickly building muscle everywhere except her butt.
After the surgery, she struggled with the recovery process.
“I gained all this weight from being immobile while recovering and trying to preserve the fat. It was just so stupid. But who gives a f**k? You got a BBL, you realize you didn’t need the s**t. It doesn’t matter. I’ll do a whole bunch more s**t just like it if I want to before I’m f**king dead because this body is temporary.”
Though she regrets it, SZA is still embracing her body.
“It just wasn’t super necessary – I have other sh*t that I need to work on about myself… I need to get my f**king mental health together… Not to say you can’t do those things simultaneously, just, for me, I realize wherever you go, there you’ll be.”
She ended by saying she’s learned to enjoy the results: “But I love my butt. Don’t get me wrong. My booty look nice. And I’m grateful that it looks pretty much… I don’t know, sometimes natural, but I don’t even care. It’s something that I wanted. I’m enjoying it. I love shaking it.”
Frens, have you ever altered your body in some way and regretted it afterwards?
