Actor Steve Buscemi, known for his roles in films like “Fargo” and “Boardwalk Empire,” was reportedly assaulted while walking on the street in New York City.
His publicist confirmed the incident, describing it as “another victim of a random act of violence in the city.”
The 66-year-old New York native is said to be okay, although his face and left eye were swollen after the attack.
He was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.
The assault occurred in the Kips Bay neighborhood around 11:50 a.m. on May 8 when a stranger randomly punched him in the face.
The attacker then fled the scene.
Police described the attacker as wearing a baseball cap, a blue T-shirt, black pants, and white sneakers.
This incident follows a similar attack on Buscemi’s “Boardwalk Empire” costar Michael Stuhlbarg, who was assaulted with a rock in Manhattan about a month earlier.
The NYPD arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the attack on Stuhlbarg.
The New York Police Department has not yet commented on the recent assault on Buscemi.
The actor’s publicist expressed Steve Buscemi’s sadness for the violence while walking the streets of New York City and thanked everyone for their well wishes.
