Simon Guobadia, the husband of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Porsha Williams, has faced yet another legal setback in his long battle for U.S. citizenship.

Court records reveal that Guobadia’s latest citizenship request was denied by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services last month, marking another chapter in his decades-long struggle to obtain naturalization.

Simon Guobadia’s Troubled Immigration History

Guobadia, a Nigerian native, first entered the United States in 1982 but overstayed his visa and was deemed deportable in 1985.

After re-entering the U.S. the following year, he again overstayed his work visa.

His legal troubles escalated in 1987 when he pleaded guilty to bank and credit card fraud.

Subsequent arrests followed, leading to his deportation in 1992.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Guobadia allegedly reentered the U.S. under an undisclosed identity and was granted permanent residency.

In 2016, he applied for U.S. citizenship, but his request was denied due to his previously “unlawfully granted” status.

Since then, he has filed multiple appeals, all of which have been unsuccessful.

Porsha Williams & Simon Guobadia’s Divorce Drama

Adding to Guobadia’s legal woes is his ongoing divorce battle with Porsha Williams.

The couple, who married in 2022, separated in early 2024 after just 15 months of marriage.

Their contentious split took another turn when Guobadia filed a $75,000 lawsuit against Williams, accusing her of defamation, emotional distress, and invasion of privacy.

According to court documents, Guobadia claims that Williams made false statements about him on social media, including allegations about his personal health that have led to public ridicule.

As their legal battles continue, both Guobadia’s citizenship status and divorce proceedings remain hot topics among fans and followers.

Porsha Is ‘Disheartened’

The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star took to social media to seemingly react to Simon’s citizenship crisis sharing that the situation is “disheartening.”

She wrote:

It’s disheartening to see my estranged husband make choices that have led to this outcome.

At this moment my priority is moving forward with my family. 🙏🏾

And it was just two days ago that Simon Guobadia was gloating on social media about winning in court.

He wrote, “One court case won, two more to go! I feel the wind of God and His Angels on my back!”
