We are sad to report actress and musician Shonka Dukureh, who recently appeared in the Elvis movie, was found dead in her Nashville apartment on Thursday (July 21).
Shonka was found in her bedroom by one of her children around 9:30 AM.
The child ran to tell a neighbor, who called the police.
According to police, no foul play is suspected.
Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine a cause of death.
Shonka played Big Mama Thornton in the Elvis movie, and she also played the same character in Doja Cat’s “Vegas” music video.
Shonka was 44 when she passed.
