Serena Williams Will Not Play In The US Open To Allow Her Body To Heal

Serena Williams took to her Instagram account today (August 25) to share with the world that she will not be competing in the U.S. Open because she is still recovering from her torn hamstring.

After careful consideration and following the advice of my doctors and medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the U.S. Open to allow my body to heal completely from a torn hamstring.

New York is one of the most exciting cities in the world and one of my favorite places to play – I’ll miss seeing the fans but will be cheering everyone on from afar.

Although Serena Williams will not be in attendance, defending champion Naomi Osaka will be competing to run it back.

The U.S. Open started yesterday (August 24) and it runs through September 12.

Do you think Osaka will win her second straight U.S. Open title?
