Nicki Minaj took to the streets of Twitter on Tuesday with a quick reminder about how she was snubbed by the Grammys for Best New Artist eight years ago.

In 2012, Onika was nominated for multiple Grammys that year including Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance. But, she left with none.

On the heels of the 2021 Grammy nominees being announced with D Smoke, Doja Cat, Noah Cyrus, CHIKA, and Megan Thee Stallion up for Best New Artist, Nicki decided to take a stroll down memory lane.

The Queen of the Barbs tweets:

Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously charting on billboard & bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade- went on to inspire a generation. They gave it to the white man Bon Iver. #PinkFriday

While the Grammys are considered the pinnacle of a recording artist’s career, many, like Nicki Minaj consider them a sham for a number of reasons.
