It was a huge night for Nicki Minaj at the MTV VMAs 2022 as the Queen of the barbs served as co-host of the show and she was honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Prior to receiving her award, the 39-year-old rapper took to the MTV VMAs stage to perform a medley of endless hit singles.

Nicki Minaj performed “All Things Go,” “Monster,” “Beez In The Trap,” “Chun-Li,” “Moment 4 Life,” “Super Bass,” “Anaconda,” and she closed out her set with a performance of her new single, “Super Freaky Girl.”

Days after the release of her new single, Nicki became the first solo female rapper to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since Lauryn Hill in 1998.

I don’t think anyone enjoyed Nicki’s performance more than Chloe Bailey, who was getting her life the entire time!

Nicki Minaj Gives Thanks

During her Video Vanguard Award acceptance speech, Nicki Minaj thanked many of those who influenced her rap career including Lil Wayne, Foxy Brown, Lauryn Hill, Jay-Z, Slick Rick, and Doug E. Fresh.

There was also a somber moment during her speech when Nicki paid homage to the dearly departed.

“I don’t know why, y’all,” she said. “But this was in my spirit to say: I wish Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson were here.” She added, “I wish Pop Smoke, and Juice Wrld, and Nipsey Hussle were here.”

After winning an MTV VMA Award for Best Hip Hop Video for “Do We Have A Problem?” featuring Lil Baby, Nicki thanked a few more people.
