Natasha Rothwell is taking her talents to the small screen once again, this time by developing a TV adaptation of the viral TikTok series “Who TF Did I Marry?”
Created by Tareasa “Reesa Teesa” Johnson, the series captivated millions earlier this year with its jaw-dropping tales of deceit.
Rothwell, who will not only star as Johnson but also serve as the executive producer, is set to bring this wild story to life.
The TikTok series, which spans 50 videos and more than eight hours of content, details Reesa Teesa’s tumultuous relationship with her ex-husband, whom she describes as a master manipulator.
Her candid storytelling struck a chord with viewers, racking up over 450 million impressions across social media and skyrocketing her follower count to over 3 million in just two weeks.
Among the shocking revelations Reesa Teesa shared were her ex-husband’s lies about playing football at San Diego State University (a school he never attended), asking for money for a funeral for his stepdaughter (who was very much alive), and having a social security number that didn’t match the one on their marriage license.
To top it all off, she discovered he was cheating on her.
While Johnson referred to him as “Legion” in her videos, TikTok sleuths later uncovered his real name: Jerome McCoy.
McCoy has since publicly denied Johnson’s claims.
The popularity of “Who TF Did I Marry?” sparked a fierce bidding war, which Natasha Rothwell won, securing the rights through her production company, Big Hattie Productions.
The project will be overseen by Mary Sayama McHenry, who recently joined Big Hattie as the director of development after stints at CBS TV Studios and Get Lifted Film Company.
This exciting development comes just ahead of the September 13 premiere of Rothwell’s latest comedy, “How to Die Alone,” on Hulu, where she not only stars but also serves as creator.
Fans can also look forward to seeing Natasha Rothwell reprise her Emmy-nominated role in Season 3 of “The White Lotus.”
Natasha’s impressive resume includes her beloved role as Kelli in HBO’s “Insecure,” as well as a stint as a writer for “Saturday Night Live” from 2014 to 2015.
Tareasa Johnson, whose real-life drama has now become a hot property in Hollywood, signed with CAA in March, shortly after her TikTok series went viral.
A graduate of Kennesaw State University with a degree in criminal justice, Johnson furthered her studies in international law and counterterrorism in The Hague.
She currently resides in metro Atlanta and is represented by attorney Omara Harris.
With Rothwell at the helm, “Who TF Did I Marry?” is shaping up to be a must-watch series, bringing Johnson’s unbelievable story to an even wider audience.
