Be the change you want to see…

Michael Brown‘s mother, Lezley McSpadden, announced she wants to run for City Council in Ferguson, the same city where her unarmed 18-year-old son was shot and killed by a police officer.

Lezley made the announcement on Monday during a panel about police brutality at Harvard University.

What I’m contemplating is running for City Council of Ferguson.

We have to get behind people who look like us and get them in these elected seats so that they can really do what’s right by the community and I’m going to start with me by running for Ferguson City Council.

Attorney Benjamin Crump, who represented Lezley’s family after Michael was killed, said, “What a legacy that would be ― elected to the City Council and supervising the same police department that killed Michael Brown.”

I hope she does run and I hope that she wins.
