Lee Daniels excitedly offered a first look at the cast of his forthcoming reboot of “The Wonder Years.”
In case you missed the memo, ABC has given a pilot order to the series that will focus on a Black middle-class family living in Montgomery, Alabama, during the 1960s.
Elisha “EJ” Williams will star as Dean Williams, who is “a little insecure, a tad awkward and a bit self-conscious, he is determined to make his mark on the world around him.”
Dulé Hill will play the role of Bill, the patriarch who is a music professor by day and a funk musician by night.
Saycon Sengbloh will play the role of Lillian, the perceptive and good-humored wife and mother.
Last, but certainly not least, Laura Kariuki, will play Kim, Dean’s confident and popular teenage sister.
What a beautiful Black family!
The new version of “The Wonder Years” is written by comedy and TV veteran Saladin K. Patterson.
Did I mention Don Cheadle will narrate the series as “Adult Dean?”
I am super excited about this reboot!
How about you?
