Peacock is turning up the heat with a wild twist on the classic romantic comedy in its upcoming series “Laid“.

Starring Academy Award nominee Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All At Once), this dark and quirky rom-com will have you laughing, cringing, and questioning your past relationships—all at once.

Premise: Ruby (played by Hsu) discovers that her former lovers are mysteriously dying one by one.

To save them—and herself—she dives deep into her sex timeline, confronting the ghosts of her romantic past.

Think of it as How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days meets Final Destination, with a healthy dose of self-discovery, awkward humor, and bloody chaos.

Here’s the kicker: “Laid” hilariously explores the universal question, “Why can’t I find love? Is there something wrong with me?”

Spoiler alert: the answer is a resounding, “Yes, there is. And it’s definitely you.”

Key Details About ‘Laid‘:

  • Premiere Date: December 19, 2024 (all episodes available for bingeing).
  • Principal Cast: Stephanie Hsu, Zosia Mamet (Girls), Michael Angarano (This Is Us), and Tommy Martinez (Good Trouble).
  • Guest Stars: A star-studded lineup including Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Alexandra Shipp (Tick, Tick…Boom!), Chloe Fineman (Saturday Night Live), Finneas O’Connell, and more.

A Dark Rom-Com for Our Times

Created by Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford McKenna, the brains behind “Laid” wanted to reimagine the traditional rom-com by blending heartwarming moments with suspense and a touch of gore.

“In such a dark time—pandemics, industry strikes—we wanted to deliver a rom-com with a twist,” Khan and McKenna said. “Laid is optimistic, heartwarming, and full of suspense, death, and blood. It’s truly the love story for our times.”

With Ruby’s best friend AJ (Zosia Mamet) by her side, they piece together a sex timeline to warn her exes—from the one-night stands to the ones she can barely remember (like “Green Day Shirt”)—about their potential doom.
