😩 Keri Hilson Gets Real About The Beyoncé Diss That Changed Everything

During a recent interview on “The Breakfast Club,” Keri Hilson had a heartfelt and emotional moment as she opened up about one of the biggest regrets of her career—recording the infamous remix to “Turnin’ Me On,” where she took jabs that many believed were aimed directly at Beyoncé.

Keri said point-blank: “I did not write the lyrics.”

She revealed she didn’t want to sing the song. But her then-producer Polow Da Don who didn’t exactly give her much of a choice.

💔 ‘I Was in Tears’ – Keri Hilson Felt Trapped By Polow Da Don

Keri detailed how she walked into the studio thinking she was going to work on a remix she was writing herself, only to be blindsided with the already-written diss verse.

Polow had another writer in our camp at the time.

He had her write this verse.

He played it for me and said, ‘This is the remix.’

I’m thinking I’m coming in to write the remix to ‘Turnin’ Me On.’

The whole time I had been writing concepts.

But I come in and he plays me this verse and I’m like, ‘I’m not saying that.’

That was my position.

She said she tried to stand her ground and started writing her own version instead, but the situation turned hostile—in an executive type of way.

So I tried to fight him on it and I began writing my own.

That’s what I did with my time there.

But he… I want to be careful with the word I use… it was quite forceful.

You know what I mean?

In an executive-artist way only… involving others and kinda threatening my career in a real sense because my album wasn’t out yet.

Then she dropped the bombshell: “It was like, ‘You’re not coming out if you don’t do this.’”

Keri admitted, “The mistake I made was not continuing to fight. But I was in tears. I was adamant that I did not want to do that.”

🎶 The Verse That Sparked It All

The drama all stems from Keri Hilson’s “Turnin’ Me On (Remix),” which dropped on DJ Greg Street’s Sertified Worldwide in 2009, just as her debut album In A Perfect World… was taking off.

The remix included this eyebrow-raising verse:

“Your vision cloudy if you think that you’re the best
You can dance, she can sing
But she need to move it to the left, left
She need to go have some babies
She needs to sit down, she fake
Them other chicks ain’t even worth my time to talk about.”

The Beyhive didn’t need names.

They knew exactly who Keri was talking about—and the internet lit up.

The backlash was instant and brutal, and many believe that moment forever altered the trajectory of Keri’s career.

👀 Ester Dean Enters The Chat

Now here’s where it gets even spicier: after the “Breakfast Club” interview clip started making the rounds online, Ester Dean put on her Petty Panties and entered the chat – seemingly welcoming the smoke and the attention.

Initially, she shared a photo of herself and Polow Da Don.

Then, she made her way to “The Breakfast Club” Instagram account and commented on the post featuring Keri Hilson writing, “I’m here.”

When fans questioned if Ester wrote the verse, she responded: “and did!! It was a hit.”

👏🏽 Give Keri Her Flowers

One thing’s for sure—Keri Hilson has been through it.

It’s wild how one verse, written by someone else, and pushed by someone in power, nearly ended a promising R&B career.

And the fact that she’s still trying to set the record straight all these years later just shows how much it’s weighed on her spirit.

🔥 What do you think—was Keri Hilson unfairly blackballed? Should Polow Da Don and Ester Dean take more accountability?

Or how about we let Black History be just that – history!
