Kendrick Lamar is set to take center stage as the headliner for the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, happening on February 9, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
This marks Kendricks’s second appearance at the NFL’s biggest event, having been a special guest in Dr. Dre‘s West Coast hip-hop showcase back in 2022.
However, this time, he’s the main act, becoming only the second rapper to headline the prestigious show.
Reflecting on the significance of this moment, Kendrick Lamar said, “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
Though Kendrick hasn’t dropped a new album since Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers in 2022, he’s been far from quiet.
Earlier this year, he featured on Future and Metro Boomin’s chart-topping hit, “Like That,” which ignited a fiery rap beef with Drake.
The back-and-forth between the two rap giants was one of the most intense in recent memory, culminating in Lamar’s powerful track “Not Like Us.”
The diss track not only ended the beef but also dominated the charts, landing at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and amassing over 765 million streams since its May release.
The highly anticipated Halftime Show will air live on Fox from Caesars Superdome and is being produced by Roc Nation, which has curated the show since 2020.
JAY-Z, the mastermind behind Roc Nation, praised Lamar’s artistry, calling him “a once-in-a-generation artist and performer” with an unparalleled ability to shape and influence global culture.
This will be the third year Apple Music serves as the title sponsor for the event, following Usher’s explosive performance in 2024 and Rihanna’s 2023 headlining show.
Apple Music’s VP, Oliver Schusser, shared the excitement, promising an unforgettable experience for fans, complete with exclusive content across the platform.
As the NFL season kicks off, all eyes will be on Lamar, as anticipation builds for what’s sure to be another historic Super Bowl performance.
