Kendrick used a tweet that said he “officially retired” as a prompt for the announcement.

This will be the fifth studio album for Kendrick Lamar and his final under the TDE umbrella.

His last studio album, DAMN., released in 2017 earned Kendrick a Grammy for Best Rap Album and it became the first non-jazz or classical artist to win the Pulitzer Prize for music.

The win brought his total to 14 Grammys and 39 nominations.
