In a recent development, Kehlani has issued a statement addressing alarming accusations linking them to a sex cult and the alleged endangerment of their daughter’s welfare.

Full Custody Filing

This response comes in light of a custody filing by Javaughn Young-White, the father of Kehlani’s daughter, Adeya Nomi.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Javaughn has filed for full custody, citing concerns over Kehlani’s alleged involvement with a cult that he believes is adversely affecting their 5-year-old daughter’s upbringing.

Javaughn claims that the cult leader, who is currently facing numerous sexual assault allegations, poses a significant threat to Adeya’s safety.

He fears that without court intervention, Adeya could be at risk of abuse.

Javaughn contends that the cult leader has manipulated Kehlani into believing that he is a danger to their daughter, which has led them to restrict his access to Adeya.

Highlighting Kehlani’s busy tour schedule and the environment they are currently in, Javaughn argues that it is not a suitable setting for raising their daughter.

He is determined to secure full custody to ensure Adeya’s safety and well-being.

Kehlani and Javaughn welcomed Adeya in 2019 but ended their relationship the following year.

The Disturbing Accusations

According to USA Today, Javaughn filed the petition on July 24 in the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

“I am not here to disparage (Kehlani),” Young-White said in the court documents. “However, the environment that they have created for themself is not the type of environment that a child should be living [in] and therefore, I bring myself to the mercy and wisdom of the court to save my daughter before it is too late.”

Per Entertainment Weekly, in the filing, Javaughn alleges that the “After Hours” singer “has been involved in this cult for the past few years and it appears that this cult controls their actions and their behavior, including when it comes to the upbringing of our daughter.”

“For example, the cult leader, who goes by the name of Neto, convinced Respondent that he had a vision that I was a danger to our daughter and would kill her, and thereafter banned Respondent from allowing me to see Adeya,” the court documents state. “Based on this ‘vision’ by their cult leader, Respondent prevented me from seeing our daughter for months.”

Javaughn states that when Kehlani previously went on tour, he would watch Adeya.

But since the so-called “vision,” Adeya is now watched by other members of the alleged cult.

He also claims Neto has “numerous accusations of committing sexual assault against women and young girls.”

Due to Adeya being born at home and not in a hospital, Javaughn’s name is not on the birth certificate, which means he must first prove paternity.

“I am requesting that the Court establishes paternity with me being her father in order for me to be able to exercise all my rights that come with being her father,” he states in the filing.

Kehlani Releases Statement Denying Sex Cult Accusations

In a statement posted on her Instagram Story, Kehlani wrote:

What has been published in the media over the past 24 hours is incredibly hurtful, inaccurate, inappropriate, and simply untrue.

I wanted to take the time to ensure that I responded to these accusation from a calm and considered space rather than a reactive one.

I strongly deny any claims that I have put my child in harm’s way, or left my child alone with anyone deemed dangerous or unsafe.

I also do not align with any of the allegations made against my former religious community that have been stated in the media.

I have always taken great care to ensure that my child remains protected and sae at all times.

My child and my commitment to motherhood have always been my sole driving forces in this life and will always remain so.

This is who I am and what I have always been focused on.

This is a legal, private, familial matter that will be handled accordingly, and I will now be taking space for my own personal well-being and, most importantly, for the well-being of my child.

Thank you for your support and for respecting our privacy.

I will not be commenting further and will let the legal due process take place.

Javaughn Young-White Releases Statement Condemning TMZ

Javaughn Young-White also took to social media to release a statement of his own and it appears his court filing for full custody of his daughter has opened a can of worms he didn’t anticipate.

Not only did Javaughn call out TMZ for falsely reporting the details of his filing for full custody of Adeya – he is expecting the outlet to post a retraction and apology.

Javaughn also noted that he is no longer represented by the counsel who filed his case without his authorization.

Read his full statement below.

I never said that I think Santeria is a sex cult. Nor did I say that my daughter is in a sex cult.

That’s factually incorrect and I think it’s disgusting that TMZ would exploit a child’s image like that.

Further, I have not been made aware of any court ordered mediation as of writing this per the account of TMZ.

Personally, I would love for TMZ to justify to me, the other, how they came up with this narrative.

The TMZ article sensationalized aspects of what was said while simultaneously breaching my confidentiality.

Further, the filing of my case was incomplete and did not have my authorization by error of counsel.

I am no longer represented by the aformentioned counsel.

There will be an amended filing soon which will illustrate the full range of my concern.

I do not need to paint an unfair image of my co-parent for my justifiable feelings to be respected by the court of law.

This unfortunate trauma only increases the obstacle in ensuring my child’s wellbeing.

For now, I am hoping to clear the discrepancies made by TMZ.

I hope to see a formal retraction and apology.

Sincerely,

Javaughn Young-White
