In a viral clip from “CBS Mornings” exclusive interview with Jay-Z, he settled the highly debated question, “$500,000 in cash or lunch with Jay-Z.”
The Grammy Award-winning Hip Hop icon responded:
You gotta take the money. What imma say?
Gayle King tried to convince Jay-Z that people would say lunch with him because they would value his wisdom over the money.
He rebutted that they should take the $500,000 and buy his albums because all his wisdom is in his music.
…Yeah, because you got all that in the music for $10.99.
That’s a bad deal. I wouldn’t tell you to cut a bad deal.
Take the $500,000, go buy some albums, and listen to the albums.
It’s all there. If you piece it together and really listen to the music for the words, for what it is, it’s all there.
Everything that I said was going to happen, happened.
Everything I said that I wanted to do, I’ve done.
And there’s the blueprint. The blueprint, literally, to me, and my life, and my journey is there already.
This was a genius answer to re-up some album streams.
Gayle King’s full two-part interview with Mr. Carter will premiere on “CBS Mornings” on Thursday (October 26) and Friday (October 27).
